Academic Resources

The Special School District (SSD) believes that it is important for all staff to perfect their craft, be experts in their content, and stay abreast of best practices. Attaining this goal starts with meaningful teacher and staff support and an
understanding that growth occurs in a continuous cycle. A variety of professional development models is used, including job-embedded professional development and coaching to ensure ongoing growth; we utilize external experts, mentors, content leaders, and instructional coaches to accomplish this. Additionally, we send leaders, teachers and staff to key conferences and collaborations, both state and nationally hosted. Occasionally, our educators have presented at these conferences, and it is our goal to be state and national leaders in our field.

Data Considered: Professional development needs are determine by academic data, behavioral data, the 19-20 Needs
Assessment results, and teacher and leader observation results.

Needs Assessment: Our results indicated that we need on-going, content-rich professional development on our Tier 1
curriculum as well as teacher support in the areas of low-incidence disabilities we encounter.
