The Louisiana Special School District is committed to providing compassionate, collaborative, and innovative educational opportunities for students with low-incidence disabilities that meet each student’s unique needs.
The D.R.E.A.M. Academy supports this vision by offering students from Louisiana School for the Deaf and Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired opportunities to access career preparation courses aligned with the following Jump Start pathways:

2. Auto Mechanics
3. Business Management
4. Carpentry
5. Certified Nursing Assistant
6. Digital Media and Entertainment Technology
7. Hospitality, Tourism, Culinary, and Retail
8. Information Technology
9. Public Service
10. Welding

D.R.E.A.M. outlines how the SSD, LSD, and LSVI will work collaboratively to prepare students to enter the real world prepared for a career or further study in college or a technical school.

Develop individual plans to help students determine career goals and track their progress

Reinforce the skills students’ need to achieve career success

Empower students to develop leadership and employability skills

Achieve and celebrate student success in and out of the classroom

Mobilize students through classroom and internship experiences that allows them to pursue successful careers
